Additional Information: “O”MAGE is a tribute to Omaha as a dynamic historical and cultural force. The sculpture exhibits iconic strength reminiscent of the red “O” used for promotion of the city. This piece exemplifies Omaha as forging ahead –a force to be reckoned with.

Additional Information: Kristi Pederson, owner of Adventure in Art, has always felt that troubled kids had a lot to say. They just sometime couldn't express themselves. With this in mind, she approached the local Drug Court and was allowed to do a presentation to all of the kids currently in the program. She held a contest and the winning design is what you see on the side of the building at my business. Almost all of the kids in Drug Court participated; from prep work to the actual painting of the mural and to the clean up stages as well. Alyssa Denny was the artist with the winning design.

Additional Information: The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts created the Artist-in-Industry Steel Collaboration Project with Valmont Industries and Qwest Center Omaha as a way to bring dynamic contemporary art directly to the public. Forty-one artists submitted proposals to the Bemis Center’s national sculpture competition. This piece was created by R. Justin Stewart. The Artist-in-Industry Steel Collaboration Project was made possible by Valmont Industries, who donated resources, materials, studio workspace, access to machinery and fabrication assistance to the sculptors. Most notably, Valmont’s highly-trained technicians Tyler Pearce and Randy Banghart enabled the artists to realize their sculptures at six-times larger than their proposed models, and their expertise enabled the resulting public art to coordinate perfectly with the architecture and atmosphere of Qwest Center Omaha.

Additional Information: Internationally recognized as one of the most important ceramic sculptors working today, Woodman’s interest has expanded to explore other media. Her work is known for its dazzling inventions with form and color and its consistent challenge of the limits of her medium. Her bronze benches are made vibrant through inventive use of color and form and an expert blend of a wide range of influences. Joslyn musuem purchased this piece with funds provided by the Joslyn Art Museum Association, 2009
